Tough week...

I had this really great idea for a blog article about my Dad, but this seemed like it was a better idea. It would have been his birthday last Sunday, so we went to bring some flowers to his gravesite and I got some good pics of my daughter there. These pics tell the whole story. If you don't know my Dad passed a few years back after a short battle with cancer, (cancer sucks ass BTW). But to sum it up, he is still around, he makes his presence known, and this is one way he did it. My daughter just went right to his headstone without ever knowing which one it was, sat down on it and looked at me, smiled and did not want to get off the headstone right away. It was awesome.

I miss my Dad... a lot. But this helped me.

Husky Runner runs around a lake!

Last night I actually ran around a lake. Since I started running, that was one of my biggest fears, running around one of the Minneapolis lakes and not looking or feeling like a complete idiot. Well... I did it! I actually did a lot better than I thought I would do too. It helped I had someone telling me to keep going, and even giving me a challenge at the end of the run. It was awesome. I felt like I was going to throw up when I finished and my throat was burning from being so dry, but I was able to make it around with minimal slowing. This has been one of my best and most productive weeks running since I started in Feb of this year. I have started losing more weight again... FINALLY. My goal is by Christmas to lose another 15 to 20 lbs. Which is totally achievable, I think.

This week the state fair also begins, and since I am going on Sunday, I have been watching what I am eating this week. I have attempted to eat less than 2000 calories each day this week so I am able to eat a little more on Sunday. I really only need to have a few things when I am there, cheese curds, deep fried pepperocinis. Those are two must haves then after that, whatever I see that looks good. Which I am sure is going to be a lot of stuff.

Finally, my wife has been reading a blog called crappy pictures blog, she loves it. It is pretty funny, but I have a feeling that if she wanted to she could have a lot better material and have a lot more humor than that blogger. Since we have a fricken zoo here and a small child, we are constantly dealing with ridiculous situations.

Anyways I am looking forward to running around more lakes and losing more weight and inches. I will keep yoy posted!

Biking today and Yankee lessons

Well today I did a little biking, I went 7 miles in about 20 minutes. Monday, I plan on running outside again after work. Should be fun though, I feel like my stamina has been getting better the past few days even from what it was. I am pushing myself a little harder lately in my workouts since my leg finally is better, so unless there is a change in it, I will stop talking about it. :)

I went to the Thursday night edition of how to slowly destroy a basball managers career, which is also known as the Yankees vs. Twins. Apparently Ron Gardenhire can not and will not ever figure out how to consistently beat the Yankees. For me though, it was the second time in my life I have ever seen the yankees play. The first timeI was like 8 years old and Don Mattingly was the star of the Yankees, this time I got to see Jeter, Cano, A-Rod for a moment (not playing), and for my wife's benefit Jim Thome of the Twins, all will be legendary but not all for the same reason. Regardless of what you may think of the Yankees and specifically A-Rod, yes he admitted he cheated, I get it, I know why people would boo him, but the others I mentioned, are going to be legendary players. Jeter already is and Cano, he will be if he stays with the Yankees. Thome, he is becasue of 600. ( I know, he isn't a Yankee, but who cares)

As a person who loves to watch shows about the history baseball, seeing the Yankees as a team is one of the ultimate things to do. Same as going to Wrigley, Fenway and the Dome.... well maybe not the dome. Hell I even thought it was cool seeing the Astrodome a few years ago while I was in Houston at a dog show right next door to it. so for those of you who don't understand what I am getting at... My name is Nick and I am a baseball geek.

I guess you can consider it like this, many people in MN hate the Yankees, for whatever reason they want, just like so many hate the Packers, but if you were offered tix to the vikes and packers at Lambeau, most would probably want to go, Why? becasue it is a legendary place, and you are probably watching one of the ( I hate to say it) better teams in the NFL.

Sorry about my rant.

HR Runs 2 days in a row, and the Ren Fest.

So today I ran 2 miles on the treadmill. I was not planning on running since I went yesterday, but since both ellipticals were in use and the bike did not look fun, I decided to run. At first I was just going to go like a mile or so, and then do some cross training but I felt so good running that I kept going. It also helps I can finally listen to my sports talk radio station while I run, which for some odd reason, makes the time go by faster than music.

Also I have a dilemma, that I would like some help with. The Ren Fest is starting soon, and now that I have a child it may be something that we go to someday. I am not and have never been a huge fan of this particular festival. Most of the workers there are a little too extreme for me. Well, my dilemma is this, If i do go, I want to be a Star Trek Wookie. I know, weird right?

It just seems like a good idea, I mean they are all medievil and I would be futuristic, and fuzzy. Now all I really would need is a star trek logo for my chest, I could go shirtless and be the fuzzy wookie part. Then whenever anyone said anything to me I would do the chewie yell. It would be really fun to have a couple people also dress up in star wars/ star trek garb. I don't know just an idea. If anyone is interested let me know. I could also pull off Han Solo, or Jabba, maybe even Capt. Kirk. I am not a huge Star Wars fan or Star Trek fan, but it would be fun to have a little fun at the "actors" expense.

Quick but productive run today

I went for a short run today, just over a mile in about 15 minutes. I had to get it in before the rain and get home to make dinner for tha family. Not a bad evening so far. I am planning on going to workout again tomorrow after work, I am going to do the elliptical, then off to the Twins game on Thursday evening. Sorry this is so short, I don't have tons to say. I will write more tomorrow.

Have a good one!

New Blog site and new routine.

I am now on this site instead of thought.com. You know this because you are reading this. I am able to post pics of my beautiful face, and the faces of others throughout my running adventures and my weightloss journey. Someday, I hope to make my story, a roadmap for others who are in the same situation as I was in. Young (fairly young) overweight, unhappy with myself and my body, very unhealthy and worried about something that may or may not happen healthwise.

It is a long process to redo your lifestyle, completely, I am still working on it. I am not perfect, I never will be. I still do things that I shouldn't, I eat things I shouldn't, I don't work out as much as I probably should, but it is a 100% change from what I was doing, which was nothing. I will get there, I am almost there now, I can see it in the near future. I just have to get over my own thoughts of not today, or I am too tired, or I will work out more tomorrow. It is hard, but I can do it, and I will. But I have to be patient, I am doing this for my family as much as I am doing this for myself. I know I have written most of this before, but since I am starting a new blog here, I may as well start new...again.

So brace yourselves for my ups and downs, my feeble attempts at humor and maybe a little seriousness here and there.
