Sore Legs, I expected this.

Legs are sore, and I totally expected this.   I have been pushing myself to go to the gym, and do more each time I am there, and it's catching up with my body a little finally.   I am noticing changes for the better.   I made another loop in my belt so I can make it tighter.  I was on the tightest loop in and my pants were still falling down, and it was my favorite belt.  I am really picky about belts for some reason.  Overall, I am going to keep pushing through the minor leg soreness, stretch and ice if needed, but I feel better. Also, I realized today, I really like apples.   Random thought of the day I know, but the apple I just ate was really fricken good.

Just park already! You're at the gym FFS!

Hello again, so today is going to be a little rant about some of the people that go to the particular gym I go to.  I am sure this happens at other gyms too but this is my experience.

Parking lot people - These are the people that will wait near the front of the lot, or drive around in circles waiting for someone to leave, so they can get a close spot.   This drives me insane!   You are at the Gym!  Walking an extra 20 yards or even more isn't going to kill you.   It's actually good for you, adds to your workout.   I just don't understand sometimes what people are thinking.   Yes, I like a close spot just as much as the other guy, but if I am heading to the gym at a busy time and see the front of the lot is basically full, I will take the first and probably farthest away spot I see.  Also, this parking lot is not that big, so wherever you park, you aren't that far away.

Sweaters -  I'm not talking about the scratchy thing you wear on special occasions or to work, I am talking about the guy wearing a spaghetti strap "muscle" shirt that looks like he just stepped out of the shower.   I admit I sweat a lot, but, I wear enough workout clothing to capture most of the sweat.  Sweating is fine, but sweating as much as some of the people so and then not wiping down the machine or weights when you are done is not.   There is one guy in particular that seems to be on the same schedule as me at the gym, he sweats so much it splashes.  He has his hands and arms all over the treadmill, leaving sweat shaped arm and hand prints, then just walks away from the machine... NASTY!

Walkers/Sitters - These are not the people on treadmills walking for exercise. (that's what I mostly do with a little running here and there)  These are the people that are constantly walking around the equipment, showing off their muscles, but seems like they are never doing anything to get the muscles.   Maybe they are there all the time, when it isn't busy working hard, but when it is busy, with maximum number of ladies there, walking around and looking buff is their way of trying to "pick them ladies up". This group also includes the people that sit on the weight machines and look at their phone forever and then get up after not doing anything, but keep their towel or muscle milk there so no one else can use it.  Waste my damn time waiting for you to move so someone can actually use it for the purpose it was intended.

As most of us know that have been to a workout center, wherever it is, there are all types of people, but this last one gets me the most.

Locker room danglers - Okay, I get it, it's a locker room, there are going to be people that are in different stages of undress even naked at times. That doesn't make me uncomfortable, what does is the guy who takes a shower, or is going to take a shower, then decides he needs to floss at the sink...naked, or he needs to clip his toenails on the bench next to your locker...naked.  when a naked guy and another naked guy talk about their day or politics...naked.  Or they just sit with their socks and shirt on letting their junk "air dry" doing god knows what with their underwear and pants. Yes, I understand, there is a need for showers in these places, but there are also other people around.   This isn't your house

Oh, and by the way, I have been doing well, set new goals, started a new challenge and I am feeling great. Sorry again about the rant, but I had to say it out loud.   Thanks again for reading this and for your support!

Been a while. But I'm still going strong.

Sorry everybody. It's been a few days since my last update. I'm still going strong and I feel great, except for the few days I was stuck on the toilet from a stomach bug.  I think of it as a helper to get a few more pounds off.  Not the way I planned but hey it worked.  The gym I go to has an app that gives you points to use towards rewards. It tracks workouts, goals, challenges and a few other things I don't use because I don't have a personal trainer.  It actually is super motivating for me.  I almost can get a free towel with the gym logo!   I am also 3% of the way to a free Apple Watch.  At the rate I am going I will get one in 5 years.  They will still be cool then right?  Overall so far I have been to the gym almost everyday for the month of Jan. I think I missed a total of 5 days over the month.  I can see and feel the difference in my clothes and gut.  Yeah I will save you all from the pictures of me before and after.  They only work when I am in tighty whities and sleeveless undershirts.   Not sure why that is, but oh well, no judging.  I'll be back soon.   Later

I just felt like running.

So last night I ran more than I have in a few years.   I know, running ten feet would have been more, but I ran a mile last night on the treadmill. I will not tell you my time, that doesn't matter.  What matters is that I was running.  It felt good, not great, but good. I think only once in my entire life have I felt that runners high everyone talks about.  Maybe I will reach that point again.
It relieved some stress after a draining day at work and a mentally tough evening.  For the first time since my Dad passed away in 2009, I picked up the phone and started dialing his number to call him.  I wanted to tell him about the day, and what else is going on in my life.   It sucked to realize I couldn't,   Beyond that, I am doing what I feel I need to do so I can lose some weight and make myself a little healthier.   Again, I thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy reading these post.   It's fun to write them.

On a lighter note, the woman at the gym on the treadmill next to mine totally fell last night.   To be fair it wasn't her fault.   Some asshole woman before her got off the treadmill and apparently didn't stop the belt, just walked away and left it running.   I didn't notice it, if I had i would have stopped it myself.   Anyways the lady stepped on a moving treadmill, not realizing it and wham! down she goes. She was ok, she laughed about it and continued her workout.   Thank god it didn't happen to me.

Gold Bond is my friend.

Welcome back friendly followers of Husky Runner.  A few quick updates.   I have been to the gym 8 straight days.   I am a little over a third of the way towards my goal of 3 weeks straight at the gym.  I can tell my cardio strength is coming back surely but slowly.  Finally, Gold Bond is my friend.  Walking and jogging, not running, because if I were being chased by somethings I would be caught for sure, take a hell of a toll on my fat thighs. But the cool medicated relief of Gold Bond is like a cold beer on a hot day for my thighs.   I know, TMI but it's true.
It's all working.  I can feel it, can't see it but that will come.  Thanks again for reading and supporting me.

Pants on the ground! Looking like a fool..

Quick update, my pants keep sagging today.   They weren't last week, but they are this week.   I have my belt to the tightest loop, so the only thing I can think is that my workouts and the better eating have been working a little.   I hope that is the case.   I think I will be sitting at my desk a lot today, so I don't have this happen to me. Good stuff.  I have been to the gym 5 consecutive days, which is a record for me.   My initial goal is to make it 3 weeks straight, to make it part of my daily routine, so I stick with it.  So far so good.   I am also not weighing myself regularly because that has always discouraged me if I am not losing enough fast enough.   I am going to go on how I feel rather than how much I weigh this time.   - Husky Runner

I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!! HUSKY RUNNER HAS RETURNED

After a 2 year break from really doing nothing, I have decided to retire being fat and lazy.   So many things have happened in the past few years, including me gaining a bunch of weight, which is no good.   I think I have to get back to what helped me stay on course before, this blog, and your support from reading this blog.

I am happy to announce that I actually jogged a little bit on the treadmill last night at the gym.   I wasn't planning on it, but as I was doing my workout and increasing the intensity, I felt it was the natural thing to do.  Don't get me wrong, it didn't last long until I had to slow back to a walk but it is a start.

I will keep this short, but I have to get back to my original goal.  I want to be there for my kids...  yes, that is correct,  kids.   If you haven't already seen the multiple FB posts, wife and I are expecting a boy in July.  YAY!    Oh and if I win the 1.5 Billion Lotto tonight, I am having lipo done tomorrow so this is all for nothing.  :)
